I’m Keith Linhares.

I’m running for Worcester City Council in District 1

Keith Linhares with his wife Emily and their three daughters playing in the leaves on a fall day in Worcester, MA

Not only is Worcester my home, it’s where I see my family’s future. I have three daughters growing up here and I want them, along with all families in our community, to have the opportunity to thrive.

I’m not a politician. I’m a hardworking, minivan-driving dad, a first-generation college graduate, and the husband of a dedicated youth and community worker. I grew up in a working-class family, worked hard to build a life, and chose Worcester as the place to raise my kids.

This city has incredible potential, but too many people are struggling to stay, grow, and succeed. Worcester needs leadership that listens, values community, and makes smart, forward-thinking decisions.

I want my children, and yours, to be proud of this city; to see their future here; to know Worcester is a place where families, small businesses, and neighborhoods can flourish for generations to come.

I envision a Worcester where anyone who loves this city can afford to stay, raise a family, and build a future. A city with strong schools, clean parks, prosperous small businesses, and community based neighborhoods.

I want a community, where instead of being divided, we look out for each other.

A place that feels like home for everyone.

KEY ISSUES

Housing

An affordable place to call ‘home’ should be attainable for all residents. I will push for zoning and other reforms, to open up new housing and make housing in Worcester  more attainable.

I believe in strategic development that prioritizes families, the environment, and small businesses over corporate interests.

City Services

Our streets, sidewalks, and public works need significant improvements and modernization. Whether it is accessibility or cleanliness, the care we have for our city should be obvious to residents and visitors alike.

I will advocate for a more transparent, efficient, and resident-driven approach to city government.

Safe Communities

I support greater accountability and oversight in all aspects of public safety.

I want to invest significant resources in addressing mental health, homelessness, and addiction. That includes expanding outreach services, shelters, and permanent supportive housing to help people who are clearly hurting.

My Values

  • I will foster a campaign of hope, showing what’s possible when communities rally around a vision for change.

I want to emphasize actions and results over divisive rhetoric.

We can develop clear, achievable solutions through unified actions. I will focus on building bridges to establish a common ground against issues impeding our community’s potential.

  • I will challenge city leadership to ensure we have local government and services that serve all citizens at an exceptional level of quality.

I will advocate for a more democratic, transparent, and community-oriented approach to governance.

I will build coalitions with groups outside of the 2-party system, unions, and grassroots organizations to amplify overlooked voices.

  • No elected official has all the answers, nor should they. My goal is to solicit advice and let guidance from my constituents drive my decision-making.

I believe that all residents of District 1 deserve a voice. I will help ensure it is heard, even if I personally disagree.

I enjoy healthy debate, and I want to see more people respectfully disagree while debating our options. By engaging in debate, people can find common ground for resolutions that better represent our diverse community.

Indecision can be worse than no decision, so I will be judicious on behalf of my constituents. If I think something is bad for the District or Worcester as a whole, I will express my viewpoint while being fully transparent about my decision-making.
